In June 2026 Telesmart became a subsidiary of Lightwire, following acquisition by Lightwire's parent company, London Green Group, in late 2025.
Telesmart and Lightwire continue to operate independently, each focused on a distinct part of the market, while now benefiting from combined network infrastructure, products, scale, expertise, and capability.
Telesmart, founded in Wellington in 2005, has grown into a national provider of enterprise communications, security, and connectivity, spanning Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex, Meraki, Fortinet, and Juniper, alongside contact centre and cybersecurity solutions. It is listed on the All-of-Government Marketplace, with customers including Victoria University of Wellington, Tu Ora Health Services and First Credit Union across education, health and financial services.
Telesmart's focus is the enterprise, government, and mid-market space, where complexity, security, and bespoke solutions are required, while Lightwire's focus is B2B wholesale, the partner channel, and infrastructure builds in the retirement village space. Each company retains its own sales, support, and provisioning teams, so there is no change to how either company's customers are looked after day to day.
Lightwire is one of New Zealand's largest and privately owned internet service providers, with more than 10,000 customers. Built from a single idea in the Waikato, it has grown into a full-scale wireless, fibre, infrastructure, connectivity, voice, and mobile business spanning New Zealand and Australia, and operates as a wholesale telco in its own right, with more than 250 Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and telcos partnering with Lightwire for their customers' voice and data.
Combined, our two companies employ more than 100 people, with offices in Hamilton, Wellington, Auckland, and Christchurch, and remote staff across New Zealand and Australia. That scale brings together deeper technical and industry expertise, a wider combined product set spanning voice, data, security, and mobile, and an expanded network footprint and capacity, engineered for enterprise reliability and performance, with security at its core.
For customers, that translates directly into more people's expertise to call on, more products and services to draw from, and more capability for every service, industry and market segment we work with.
We draw on shared services and selective product and systems integration where it adds value, capability, scale, and maturity for our customers, backed by shared governance and investment that allows each business to keep its own identity, leadership, and customer base, preserving what has made Telesmart and Lightwire each successful and unique. The result is a combined group with more depth across people, products, and services than either company had on its own, and every customer benefits from that added strength without any change to who they deal with day to day.
